Architectural Control

Authority

DCCR Article V, Architectural Control states, “no exterior addition or change or alteration shall be made until the plans and specifications…..shall have been submitted to and approved in writing as to harmony of external design and location in relation to surrounding structures and topography by the Board of Directors or by the Architectural Control Committee.”

Conforming with this requirement, Wesley Place has an Architectural Control Committee (ACC) that serves at the pleasure of the Board of Directors. If an owner submits a request that is denied by the ACC the owner may appeal to the Board.

How to Request an Architectural Change

Get a Architectural Control Committee (ACC) Request for Approval form at the mail station or download one below. The form will request your contact information, a description of the requested change, and your signature. Complete the form and put it in the mail slot to the left of the clubhouse door. To ensure that your form is picked up promptly, extend the flag on the wall.

Exterior Decorations and Accessories

This policy covers Lawn/Yard Art, Flags & Flagpoles, In-ground Lighting, and Holiday Lighting. These are part of the original Landscaping and Lawn Guidelines, published in 2017, that remain in the Architectural domain.

Exterior Light Fixture Replacement Policy

Here are guidelines to help you determine which lights may be allowed. ACC approval is still required even if you believe that you have met the requirements.

Satellite Dish/Antenna Installation

Small satellite dishes or antenna will be allowed if they are not visible from the front of the unit. The homeowner must accept responsibility for repairing any damage to the building structure as the result of installation, operation, or removal of the dish/antenna. Use the Request for ACC Approval form to get authorization. Note that the DCCR states that satellite dishes are not allowed, but this was before (1) satellite dishes became smaller and (2) federal law overrode this DCCR statute.

Roofing Materials, Installation, and Guttering

To ensure the consistency of our roofs, the listed specifications are to be used if homeowners have to replace their individual roofs. If the Association replaces ALL roofs, then it may choose different specifications.
