Airplane Crash, June 1988

You read that right. Wesley Place was indeed the location of a fatal airplane crash on June 9, 1988. A twin-engine Cessna 421B traveling from Indianapolis, Indiana to Jacksonville, Florida broke apart in midair in a thunderstorm. One engine landed in the narrow gap between 8953 and its garage, another engine crashed onto a deck in Bennington, and the flattened fuselage, with the pilot crushed inside, landed in the circle of Phase II. The NTSB Accident Report lists icing, turbulence, and possible drug impairment among the factors contributing to the accident.
